Wouldn’t A Leaf Vacuum Be A Much Better Idea?
Why are leaf blowers so popular? Why don't people just use the leaf vacuums that are available to suck up leaves/debris. That just seems like it's be a much easier way to clean up, and you are removing the debris, not just blowing it around so they wind can blow it back!

How Do You Switch Your Leaf Blower To A Vacuum? »

My leaf blower from Sears comes with a bag that can be attached to make it into a leaf vacuum. The problem is that the bag fills up very quickly and needs frequent emptying. That is a time waster.

only problem with the leaf vacuum is that you have to drag the trash barrel around with you also the dirt goes everywhere. If you have acorns they have a tenancy to chop up the fan. also a pain when sticks clog up the tube. Wear a mask or you will be hacking up dust for hours afterward. Get ready for a shower afterward. They are not user friendly on the roof….

You are so right!!!! A leaf blower should only be used if the leaves are going to be raked up afterwards. I see so many people use leaf blowers & the next day, the leaves have blown back into their yard or into the neighbor’s yard.

The best thing to do with a blower is to blow it all into a pile, so you don’t have to rake. Then you get two inexpensive rakes (plastic is fine) use them like two big hands and pick up the leaves and put them in bags. You can go to Lowes or Home Depot and see what they have for holding the bag open for you. http://www.bagemall.com/
I’ve rented a lawn vac years ago thinking like you, that it should be easier, It wasn’t. In my opinion, it’s poorly designed for a lawn vac. Your better off either using the pile method above, or putting the bagger attachment on your mower and emptying it into bags or a burn pile in the back yard if your able to burn in your area. You can also vacuum the pile (mulching at same time) by attaching this; http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B…
to your blower/vac and vacuuming leaves into a 33 gal or larger trashcan with your plastic bag already in can, when its full you pull the bag out of can tie it and put it on curb.
Good Luck,
